Breathing Trouble
- Increased effort to breathe.
- Increased abdominal movement when breathing.
- Extension of the head and neck.
- Bluish color to gums or very pale gums.
- Inability to inhale or exhale.
- Keep the pet calm.
- Suction the mouth free of any fluid that is interfering with breathing.
- If the pet is choking, perform the Heimlich maneuver and a finger sweep.
- Perform rescue breathing if the pet is not breathing.
- If the pet is overheated, apply a wet towel or dampen the pet's fur and remove from the heat.
- Seek immediate veterinary help.
- Do not upset the pet
- Do not perform rescue breathing on a conscious pet.
- Do not give anything by mouth.
- Do not put ice packs on your pet--this is too cold.
